VISA
To visit Japan, symposium participants must have a valid passport. A visa is also required for citizens of countries that do not have visa-exempt agreements with Japan. Symposium participants should look through visa requirements by themselves in MOFA website. Information about visa exemption is available here.
For those who need a visa for participating to SOFC-XIII:
VISA applicants are required to submit necessary documents to the nearest Japanese Embassy or international travel agency. Some of the documents, i.e. Letter of reason for invitation and Schedule of stay, should be prepared together with the executive committee of SOFC-XIII. The other documents should be prepared by the applicants themselves. The other document forms and further information are available in MOFA website.
When an applicant needs the documents issued by the executive committee ("Letter of reason for invitation"and "Schedule of stay"), mark the check box in the registration website. An applicant are required to pay the symposium registration fee to ask us to issue the visa related documents. As long as there is no particular problem with the content of an applicant's information, the executive committee will dispatch "Letter of reason for invitation" and "Schedule of stay" to an applicant. Although application deadline of the visa related documents is 30. Aug. 2013, it had better to start visa application process as early as possible.
It'll take about 1-4 weeks to issue the visa after the submission of the necessary documents to the Embassy. The applicants should start to prepare the VISA application documents with time to spare.
